The Management Team
Athena Freight Services Inc. was founded by Tammy Dixon and Crystal MacKinnon. Combined they have over 27 years of military excellence, with expertise in freight shipping and receiving, personnel management, and leadership in challenging situations, all while working in extreme environmental conditions.
At Athena Freight Services Inc., our vision is to create a superior freight logistics team. By building strong relationships based on trust with our clients, providing industry leading customer service, we will help our clients surpass their shipping expectations.
Tammy and Crystal’s unique background has given them experience and qualifications in the movement of Dangerous Goods and Restricted items. They have been heavily involved in the movement of freight by ground and air transportation and have experience moving large vehicles by rail. They have International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), Controlled Goods, and Dangerous Goods certification, and training such as Green Procurement and Safety Management. They have worked in the harshest weather conditions on the planet, which will enable them to build rapport with the freight carriers, who are also subject to varying and often inclement weather conditions.
Due to the critical nature of military work, Crystal and Tammy operate effectively, and even thrive, under stressful conditions and tight timelines where success and failure is often measured in minutes.
Crystal pursued her education through high school and into university, where she began an undergraduate degree in Psychology. With only a year remaining in her degree program, she left university when offered employment with the Canadian Armed Forces. Here, she began a career in the Infantry. Following Crystal’s enrollment, she became the second female in Canadian Armed Forces history with the Royal Canadian Regiment (RCR) to successfully complete this physically and mentally grueling training.
Tammy joined the Canadian Armed Forces directly into the “Traffic Tech” community. Starting her career at CFB Cold Lake AB, where she supported the Royal Canadian Air Force F-18 Squadrons with several North American training missions. Here she was involved in the planning, customs paperwork, physical loading and execution to destination for road and air transportation moves.
